Issue Summary
Refactoring in order to improve or to structurally re-design the scripts is cumbersome.

Category
General

More specific issues
  • COMPLEX SCRIPTS: The scripts are so complicated that nobody understands them. Refactoring often means rewriting from scratch
  • SCRIPT CREEP: There are a lot of similar scripts and since it's not possible to check which scripts are actually in use, more refactoring work is done than is actually necessary.
  • SLOW SCRIPTS: The scripts are too slow in execution, but it's very difficult to pinpoint the exact cause, so that its not easy to improve them
  • UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS: The scripts work and you want to keep them that way. You are trying to keep the code in your scripts clean and efficient, but your management thinks that it increases maintenance costs too much.
  • UNRELIABLE SCRIPTS: The scripts are not reliable, but when one tests them they run perfectly. This makes improvements very arduous.
